First we have Penelope:
I've had her for about 4 months. She's currently 7 months old and very loving.
She likes to give little "rat kisses" to people. She'll juts lick you forever if you let her.
Apparently this means that she "loves" you as this is what rats do to their fellow rat companions to clean each other.
She really likes people and warms up to new people very easily. I tend to take her places with me sometimes. She seems to like it.
Her and I have developed a really strong relationship in the past few months. She's been a great friend to me.
If anybody wants to argue that animals don't have personalities, I'd love to introduce them to Penelope.
Then we have Rose:
She's my "youngin." She often gets scolded by Penelope in her attempts to dominate her.
Penelope, the older and wiser rat, has no problem knocking Rose down a peg if she gets too rowdy.
Rose is only about 3 months old. She's hyper, curious, but still not completely trustful of people just yet.
She tries to emulate Penelope's interactions with people, but tends to get skittish very easily.
She'll poker her nose out to investigate me, but if I make a sudden movement she'll run away to the top of the cage to hide.
She's warming up quickly though. She's finally taking treats from my hand, which is good progress.
I've only had her for three days and these things take time.
