Quote and a Link

Tomorrow we'll set aside 20 minutes to discuss some of the conversations that have been going on here, and we will be using part of class to talk about the observation papers.
Here is the quote that I read in class on Tuesday. If any of you are interested in reading the full article, please let me know and I'll send it to you.
"There is no animal in the general singular, separated from man by a single indivisible limit. We have to envisage the existence of 'living creatures' whose plurality cannot be assembled within the single figure of an animality that is simply opposed to humanity...it is a matter of taking into account a multiplicity of heterogeneous structures and limits. Among nonhumans and separate from nonhumans there is an immense multiplicity of other living things that cannot be homogenized, except by means of violence and willful ignorance, within the category of what is called the animal or animality in general." Jacques Derrida. "The Animal That Therefore I Am (More to Follow). " Critical Inquiry. Vol.28.2 (Winter 2002).

And for those of you interested in thinking about both the linkages between capitalism and the processes of meat production AND methods of changing attitudes about nonhuman animals here is a link to a video game a friend sent me. Do the tutorial. http://www.mcvideogame.com
